We’ve been busy making some exciting plans for the 2012 season of the St Catherine’s market and the Frome Flea with the first of 2012 coming up in just a couple of weeks’ time – Sunday 1 April.

Expect the usual delights from our regular traders and a number of new editions … plus the Frome Flea back with a bang!

A day for many firsts, Frome’s first pop-up gallery opened during the Artisan Market.  Only open throughout the month of May, it was a real treat for new-comers to Frome and locals alike.  Exhibiting artists include Chris Bucklow, Tristan Stevens, and Mark Karasick.

Based in Frome’s creative quarter, St. Catherine’s Artisan Market hosts a fantastic selection of  artisans and local food producers. We’ve everything from an artisan bakery to freshly cut flowers, cakes, crumbles cheese and chocolate, poultry, pasta, honey and herbs. We also have a number of designer – makers presenting a unique selection of prints, ceramics, and jewellery.

Sunday 1st May sees the very welcome return of St. Catherine’s Artisan Market.  The cobbles of Catherine Hill, Frome, will once again be bustling with artists, designer-makers, food producers and all manner of other creatives.  Traders will be coming from all over the region, as well as some from further afield to sell their wares on this picturesque hill.  Expect to see your old favourites, among some very exciting new stalls.

NEW EVENT LAUNCHING = THE FROME FLEA!

May I use this space to introduce to you the Frome Flea, the brand-spanking new sister-market to the Artisan.  The Frome Flea is a quality second-hand market, with stalls selling antiques, collectable art, vintage clothes, fabrics, retro collectables, toys, homeware, etc.  Everyone loves to discover a bargain, and a flea market is the perfect place for this.   The Flea will run on the same day as the Artisan Market – 1st May – outside Frome Library in Market Yard car park, between 9.30am – 2pm.

There will also be a few hot food and drinks stalls, including fresh paella cooked in front of your eyes and Claud the Butler coffee van.

Don’t forget that there is plenty of free parking in town for both markets.

2011 DATES

I know a few people have been confused as to when the Artisan would start again, so let me erase all doubts… There won’t be an April or October Artisan, as it was decided that these two months were the most unreliable, weather-wise.

Dates this year, for both the Artisan Market and Frome Flea, are as follows:

Sunday 5th June

Sunday 3rd July

Sunday 7th August

Sunday 4th Sepember

and Sunday 5th December (Christmas special!)

Sizzling sausages, fresh bread and unique stalls.

St.Catherine’s christmas raffle winners will also be selected.

Sunday the 5th September 10am-2pm the traders will set up stalls to cozy up those character cobbles.

Pick up a sausage in a bun at the bottom  whilst doing a bit of shopping on the way. Why not go up on a bike in vintage and gather your collectables at St.Catherine’s Artisan market.

On the surface you could be forgiven for assuming it would be the usual monthly Artisan experience.

Medieval morris dancers with rather large cucumbers!

A nice starter to warm us up for the big one!

Yes, the Frome Festival is a brewing and these men in tights have given us a peep at what’s to come.

I have never watched a cucumber so intently. The shape of their vegetables gave us no clues to rehearsal strain, but it was obvious they had worked hard to perfect this comedic dance routine.

It’s amazing where a cucumber can go during a dance routine. SATCO would like the public to know organic packaging was used in the making of this production.
